I’m excited to let you know that two of our members, Lindsey Herchel and Mary Gambale, have just been asked to join the APTA President’s Cup team for Region II, representing the best women player in New England. The result of some hard-won victories at recent PCQ tournaments (which give them “points” for rankings), Lindsey and Mary will be playing for our region at the National tournament in Darien, CT on Thursday, March 3rd, and then as a team for the rest of the weekend.
Lindsey played tennis for Stonehill College, accumulating over 100 career wins during her time there, later coaching at Curry and Stonehill. She currently works at Tenacity as the site director for the McCormack Middle School in Dorchester. Mary is a former WTA player, having competed in the US, French and Australian Open, as well has having been the 2005 Girl’s 18 National Singles Champion. She currently teaches tennis full-time at Pine Brook Country Club.
Both 26, Mary and Lindsey play regularly at BPC, often fielding first position for our ladies Wednesday night league. Not only do they have great hands, they both bring a wonderful spirit of collaboration and enthusiasm to our courts. Please join me in congratulating them.
